About Us

We named our organization Omid because it means hope in Dari. After the Taliban took over Afghanistan in September 2021, many girls lost access to education. We believe that all females have an equal right to education, and we strive to bring hope to these girls through mathematics and friendship.

Omid was founded by Sophia (Sophie) Lee, who has been tutoring a group of girls in Kabul since the beginning of 2022 and hopes to impact the lives of more girls. She has developed a heart for girls in Afghanistan and is passionate about spreading encouragement and resources so that these girls can fulfill their dreams and potential, despite their limiting circumstances.
